a little darker now…
Meh, the others were too bright, I wanted to create a darker atmosphere, but not too dark.
final details
I’ve added what will probably be the last of the texturing changes to the building itself. It now has enough detail, and any more will probably ruin it.
more bricks
[Update: Wow, 3 in a day!
The bottom render is newer, I did some work on the campus surface to make it more broken up, and less overgrown.]
Ok, since I’m playing around, I’ve gone and kept the bricks for now, playing with colors and grout width, to see if its workable. I’ve gone grey, with this as the result; I must say this looks much better. Why did I not do this in the first place?
I have also added some cafeteria exterior details.
playing with textures
Well, a new work schedule at the job, and I haven’t had time in over a month to do any work on this project. History repeating itself yet again.
I’m not sure I like this. I added a brick texture as the building is brick, but it makes things too busy, and I may have to make some adjustments for smaller renders.
“rediscovering science”
Well, this is why I never get anything done…
I wasn’t happy how the building turned out. I was going for too much accuracy, and it just wasn’t looking that great.
So, as is my modus operandi, what did I do? I tore it down, and started rebuilding — from scratch. All that remains the same is the campus.
It looks a bit better, but as you can see, I now have quite a bit of work ahead of me to get the building back to where it was.
some of the characters
These are based on poser figures just a get an idea of how I wanted the characters to look. They’re not quite the style I want, but rather a rough idea.
This render dates back to 2007.

a rather unseemly bunch (left to right - front row: morgan; middle row: maria, amy, anthony; rear row: juan and alan grant)
Update, December 19, 2011: The characters did have names, and I’ve updated the above caption to reflect them. Removed from the project as it no longer involved Isla Nublar is Alan Grant. The rest are expected to remain.
Something a little newer as well (this render may be a little over a year old, note the clean classroom).
the campus
The campus doesn’t escaped unscathed of course. In the future the large planters will have dirt and dead trees.
